What is Ultima Replenisher?
Ultima Replenisher is the most-advanced, balanced electrolyte drink available in the world. Through years of research and testing, Ultima's formulators found that optimal hydration requires a good balance of the electrolytes and that electrolytes are most readily absorbed with a proper amount of carbohydrate. With no carbohydrates, the absorption of electrolytes is very low and with excessive carbohydrates, the absorption is slowed by a long and necessary digestion process. Ultima's researchers found that by minimizing carbs, and using only complex carbs, rather than simple sugar, the absorption is quick and effective.

When do we use electrolytes?
Awake or asleep, our bodies use electrolytes. When exercising or in the heat, we use more electrolytes. Flying, hiking, and mental activity, such as an exam or clinic requires electrolytes. Evidence of electrolyte use is most noticeable in our sweat, the salty taste is the taste of the electrolytes.

How long does Ultima Replenisher take to be absorbed?
In clinical studies, we have measured the absorbability to take about 10 minutes. This means that if you have a headache or a leg cramp due to depletion of electrolytes (a.k.a. dehydration) it will take about 10 minutes for Ultima to start working. Thus, sluggishness or a hangover can be quickly addressed, and without sugars like glucose, fructose or sucrose or stimulants like caffeine, taurine or guarana.

Who is Ultima Replenisher good for?
We have done trainings and clinics at hospitals, holistic health centers, yoga studios, marathons and triathlons, during century rides, at base camps and on mountain-tops, at soccer games and the little leagues and at some of the biggest athletic events in the world in other company's "name brand" coolers and sometimes our own. Ultima Replenisher is great for the "sippy-cup and up". It's great for kids of all ages, moms and dads, hikers and skiers, pilots and passengers, road warriors and road trippers, conductors and long-haul truckers, travelers and those bed-ridden, dieters and diabetics, seniors and teenagers, pregnant women-- before, during and after labor, and also celiacs, those with Crohn's or colitis or most any other G.I. issue, vegetarians and vegans, plus those with colds, diarrhea, the flu... whew!

Does Ultima Replenisher have any artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners?
No, no and no! it is very important to us that we use no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. We also do not use any stimulants (like caffeine) and our products are all gluten-free, vegan, and use only 100% non-GMO ingredients.

How do I make Ultima?
Pretty simple: just add water. But a couple of tips: Our serving size is 8 - 12 ounces. One Ultima packet or one half an Ultima scoop makes a serving. Ultima mixes fastest when you use a good quality running bottle or other container to vigorously shake the water / Ultima combination. It also quite acceptable, but maybe a little slower, to mix Ultima in an open glass with a spoon. In either case, add ice after mixing. Unlike all the sugar sodas and sports drinks, Ultima has no preservatives, so it's best made fresh, kept cold and consumed within 24 hours.

What is the new Kid's Electrolyte Replacement Formula?
Kids have very few 'healthy' choices of drinks today. As parents, we would like them to just drink water and maybe milk. But kid's want flavor and rather than deny them or give them sugar filled juices and sports drinks, we offer Ultima Replenisher. The Kid's version is specifically for kid's once they start looking for more than milk or water. The supplement facts panel includes the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) for children under 4 years old. Working with pediatricians, small children and parents, we have formulated Kid's Ultima with a smaller dose of minerals and vitamins and offer it in a "sippy-cup" friendly serving size of 4-8 ounces. Look for Raspberry Kid's Electrolyte Replacement Formula at your local health food store. It is great as an every day alternative to juice boxes or sports drinks and when your child doesn't feel so well.

Why do most sports drinks contain so much sugar?
Sugar is cheap and it tastes good. Standard sports drinks sell "sugar" as "energy" and the public has bought on. We are amazed how often we see an otherwise healthy person replace calories burned during activity with empty calories from simple sugar or, worse yet, corn syrup.

I am used to drinking a high carb drink. Don't I need carbs for energy?
The principal purpose of Ultima Replenisher is to hydrate quickly and providing correct amounts of electrolytes is as important as minimizing carbohydrates to facilitate rapid absorption. Carbs are great for energy and we recommend getting carbs from food. Many athletes use carb drinks and carb gels and/or bars. The purpose of these products is for carbohydrates, or fuel. These carbs require digestion, and this takes both time and energy. Ultima's purpose is to provide quick absorption and thus minimizing carbs is important. However, most carb drinks, gels and bars use the complex carbohydrate maltodextrin and are compatible to Ultima.

What are the artificial ingredients to look out for?
Popular artificial ingredients in sports drinks include sucralose, acesulfame potassium, aspartame, the dyes, like yellow number 5 and blue number 1, as well as a wide array of artificial flavors.

What is non-GMO maltodextrin?
Maltodextrin can come from corn, rye or wheat and is a complex carbohydrate, meaning it contains more than a single molecule. Maltodextrin has a high glycemic index, like sugar, so we recommend minimizing it. A GMO is a genetically modified organism. We use only non-GMO maltodextrin made from the white part of corn kernels. When beaten into a powder form, non-GMO maltodextrin is a great "carrier" of our formula. We can provide our formula utilizing only 3 grams per 8-ounce serving, thus keeping with our intention to minimize carbohydrates. If we used agave nectar or honey, or another natural carbohydrate as a carrier, we would need a minimum of 17 grams of carbohydrate per 8-ounce serving. This would require too much time for absorption and thus nullify our advantage.

What is Stevia?
Stevia is an intensely sweet ingredient extract from the leaves of a plant grown and used in Latin America for centuries. It is completely natural with a long history of complete safety. In Japan, where many artificial sweeteners are banned, Stevia is used by the major, multinational beverage companies to sweeten their Diet Colas.

What is lo han guo?
Lo han guo is a fruit similar to kiwi. The active ingredient in lo han guo is a sweetener called a mogroside. We use lo han guo as a sweetener and to help balance the natural flavors and ingredients in Ultima.

Additionally:

• Ultima is gluten-free, vegan and uses only non-GMO ingredients
• Ultima focuses on qualities of electrolytes as well as balances: 2.5:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, 1:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus, 2:1 ratio of potassium to sodium.
• Ultima uses the buffered Ester C, the softest form of vitamin C
• Ultima uses zero sugar and minimal carbs, allowing for very quick absorption (10 minutes)
• Ultima uses magnesium oxide and magnesium aspartate as opposed to magnesium hydroxide (commonly known as milk of magnesia) a diuretic.

I have heard that the Magnesium to Calcium ratio is even more important than the Potassium to Sodium ratio is this true?
Ultima was formulated to provide the electrolytes in proper and useable ratios. Magnesium and calcium are often overlooked by sports drinks (and for good reason, they are expensive and don't taste well). Phosphorus, vital to absorption of magnesium and calcium, is scarce in sports drinks. Typically, sports drinks load up the sodium (a great natural preservative and taste agent). Ultima provides a 2:1 ratio of potassium to sodium and a 2.5:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium and a 1:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus. These ratios are widely accepted as ideal and thus provides the greatest benefit for rapid absorption and effectiveness. Further, selenium and zinc, which are important micro-essential electrolytes are included in beneficial amounts. Additional minerals, like chromium and copper, are important for utilization of calcium and magnesium and thus included in the Ultima Replenisher formula.

Why are the percentages of the RDA's so low, am I really getting enough?
Dehydration is noticeable with just 1-2% depletion of calcium, magnesium and/or other electrolytes. Symptoms include leg cramps, headache, fatigue, hunger, sluggishness, etc. Our goal is to replace that 1-2% as rapidly as possible. Excessive amounts of electrolytes are not suggested as medical conditions can result from both a lack of electrolytes or an excess of electrolytes. The principal purpose of Ultima Replenisher is to hydrate quickly and providing correct amounts of electrolytes is as important as minimizing carbohydrates to facilitate rapid absorption.

Can I drink too much?
No, the electrolytes, minerals and vitamins in Ultima are all water-soluble. Ultima can be consumed as desired, any excess will be ?peed out?.

So is this good for diabetics?
Yes. With zero sugar and only 3 grams of carbohydrates per serving, Ultima is a great option for people with diabetes. The glycemic load factor of Ultima Replenisher is very low and diabetics often thank us for making Ultima.

I drink a lot of water, I don't really think I need that.
Water is the most important nutrient. It is a good habit to drink plenty of water. However, the electrolytes and minerals are also important and better than just water for hydrating.

Why don't you make this premixed in a bottle?
We would like to, but we'd need to compromise the formula by adding preservatives or reducing the electrolytes. We are not big on compromise.

Does this help to balance the PH level of the body?
Hydration is a great way to balance the pH level of the body. While Ultima is slightly acidic, it is much less acidic than the popular brands.
