Considered the premium rice of choice in Thailand, the poetically named
Jasmine Rice is also referred to as "fragrant rice" due to its floral aroma and
flavor. When cooked, this long-grain brown rice is distinguished by its moist
and tender, slightly sticky texture—the softest brown rice you may ever taste!
The 10% rice bran gives our Organic Brown Jasmine Rice its light tan color and
oat-like flavor.
Unlike other brown rice that becomes chewy when cooked, this soft-textured
brown rice is the perfect accompaniment to all dishes, especially Asian cuisine
where rice holds the place of honor. It also makes a particularly good rice
pudding and salad.
We first met L.G
Raun, a third generation rice farmer, in 1994. We immediately fell in love
with the aroma and texture of this US-grown jasmine rice. Although we could have
chosen to import any jasmine rice from Thailand, we chose this rice for its
superior flavor profile, as well as for the fact that it was the first organic jasmine
rice available. The Raun family farm is located in the fertile plains of the
Texas Gulf Coast, a region whose microclimate mimics that of Thailand. It is the
high heat, humidity, organic growing methods and genuine Thai seed stock that
give this rice its deeply authentic jasmine aroma.
