"Digestion
is the mechanical and chemical breaking down of food into smaller
components that can be absorbed into a blood stream, for instance.
Digestion is a form of catabolism: a break-down of larger food molecules
to smaller ones.
In mammals, food enters the
mouth, being chewed by teeth, with chemical processing beginning with
chemicals in the saliva from the salivary glands. Then it travels down
the esophagus into the stomach, where hydrochloric acid kills most
contaminating microorganisms and begins mechanical break down of some
food (e.g., denaturation of protein), and chemical alteration of some...
After some time (typically an hour or two in humans, 4–6 hours in dogs,
somewhat shorter duration in house cats, ...), the results go through
the small intestine, through the large intestine, and are excreted
during defecation.[1]www.wikipedia.com
Due mostly to age, but also to
pancreatic inflammation and diet, most have a decrease in digestive
enzyme production by 35 (sometimes earlier). Also no human makes the
cellulase enzyme which is absolutely necessary to break down the cell
walls of uncooked or unjuiced vegetables, to make their nutrients
available for absorption. Without juicing or cooking, (which tear down
vegetable cell walls by mechanical action or heating), raw vegetables do
not yield any nutrition to a human. As without cellulase, the cell
walls of vegetables remain intact with their nutrients locked inside
throughout the process of human digestion. This lack of "full
digestion" is also the reason for "gas" formation from eating raw
vegetables and beans.
Digestive Mini's™ provide a
blend of strong digestive enzymes including cellulase to more fully
extract the nutrients from food and ease your digestive process. No
other digestive enzyme product is as potent or complete in its action as
the Digestive Mini's™!
Now, it must be said that one of
the primary reasons we developed a digestive product was for a 9 year
old who has trouble swallowing pills. So, originally the Digestive
Mini's™ were "supposed" to be chewable. This was, we thought, a
fantastic idea... until the first prototype. See, active (un-enterically
coated/matrixed) enzymes will actually burn the tongue and inside of
the mouth when chewed. Of course at that time, we had yet to experience
that with any other chewable digestive enzyme and thought the papaya
would help prevent that from happening. Unfortunately, it is exactly
what happed when we tried the prototype for the Digestive Mini's™. The
amount of active enzymes was too much for a chewable digestive enzyme
product. Obviously this wasn't going to work. So, instead of making it
chewable, we had it made very small in caplet size. Each caplet is just a
tiny bit larger than the size of a homeopathic pill. Hence the term
"Mini's" in the name. Now, it must also be said that everyone needs to
beware of chewable digestive enzyme products. Because a digestive
enzyme cannot contain the enzyme action claimed on the label and still
be chewable (this excluded a strict papaya chewable). Any active
enzyme without a protective enteric matrix will burn the mouth and
tongue when chewed! As we have been reminded, "Real Active Enzymes"
"bite or burn" the tongue and mouth as these structures lack the mucous
coating the stomach and intestines have to protect them against the
action of the digestive enzymes. Any digestive product you can chew
and not get a biting or burning effect on the tongue likely contains no
active enzymes! Chew a Digestive Mini's™ once and you won't do it again, they are meant to be swallowed whole, that's why they are mini in size but huge in enzymatic action!
