JUVENIN (now called JUJUCHI) : AN ANTI-AGING FORMULA
Jujuchi contains Cornus officinalis, Paeonia suffruticosa, Alisma plantago asiatica, Codonopsis pilosula, Bilberry extract and lutein.
The herb Comus contains the active components comus-tannin, isoterchebin, etc. This herb is known to affect immunity, with anti- inflammatory properties. It also is useful for diabetes since it reduces blood sugar level. It has been used to prevent fainting and dizziness as well. It is excellent for the kidneys and bladder and has antiperspirant qualities.
Paeonia contains the active component paeoniflorin, among other things. It has anti-spasmic and anti-inflammatory qualities, making it beneficial for ulcers. It also improves immunity and circulation.
Alisma contains alisol A, B and C, which induce diuresis. This herb, therefore, is beneficial for edema. As a result, this is ideal for reducing blood pressure and improving cardiovascular function. Alisma also increases immunity. In addition, it lowers fat content of the liver, cholesterol and blood sugar. Toxicity studies show that when given to mice intraperitoneally, its LD50 is 4 g/kg, making it very safe.
Codonopsis contains fructose, inulin, polysaccharides and syringin. It increases the production of ACTH (adenocorticortrophic hormone), a hormone released by the pituitary gland. ACTH, in turn, stimulates the production of cortisol by the adrenal glands. The herb also has anti-aging, anti-hypertensive and anti-ulcer functions, It improves central nervous system function as well as red blood cell and bone marrow composition. Toxicity studies show that intraperitoneal administration to mice yielded a LD50 of 778 mg/kg, again making it safe for human consumption.
Lutein is naturally occurring carotenoid found in green, leafy vegetables such as spinach. It is widely known to benefit the eyes. Lutein was found in the macula. Poor macular health can cause retinal oxidative stress, leading to central vision loss. Various studies have shown that lutein supplementation increases pigmentation in the macula. Macula pigmentation protects the eyes from the damaging photo-oxidative effects of blue light. This decreases the risk for vision loss associated with eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration. Lutein is also found in the lens of the eye. Lutein intake has been associated with a lower incidence of cataracts. In one study on 77,466 female nurses 45-71 years old, from 1980 through 1992, those who had the highest intake of lutein had a 22% lower risk of cataract extraction
Collectively, these ingredients produce a powerful formula that benefits the eyes, skin, hair and bones but also relieves symptoms such as dizziness, ear ringing, weak knees, cold sweats in women and wet dreams in men.
